Looks like a really good club, I think someone has recommended it to me before on here. Do you accept PADI scum? :) We definitely want to dive regularly and joining an active club makes sense (get to meet a few people as well!).

Silly question - we're PADI qualified and were thinking about doing Rescue Diver course and go on to do whatever. Do you do these courses or is it 100% BSAC?? If it's 100% BSAC, do we need to start training from scratch as it were? Not quite sure how it all works to be honest...

Cheers again,

Graham

We are both BSAC and PADI qualified but I still hate taking my mask off underwater....... the kids are fine with it. Guess I'm just not cut out for it

Trouble is I know we will be diving loads in Oz...........Just hope my mask doesn't come off! :(

Can't wait though, going to order all the gear soon so we can start asap we get there ;) :)

Yeah but it's the whole 'meeting up for a beer every week to work out where and when you're going to dive next' bit that I like the sound of. From what (limited) research I've done the PADI clubs just don't seem as social if that makes sense.

I'll have to look into it more.....

I'm PADI qualified to Rescue Diver as I was a member of a PADI dive club in the UK although I'm now crossing over to BSAC and doing my Dive Leader training (PADI Divemaster equivalent but BSAC's training doesn't require you to mortgage your house to pay for it).

On the club website there is a page that details the BSAC crossover equivalent qualifications. The club doesn't require you to train and you can continue to dive on your PADI qualifications to the equivalent BSAC level. As we were rescue divers this is equivalent to BSAC Sports Diver which is why we can go straight into DL training. PADI AOW's need to do Ocean Diver first as this contains the rescue skills (we have a number of divers doing Sports Diver at present and they are a mixture of PADI and BSAC trained).

The mad scottish one is actually our only born & bred Aussie (He hasn't looked at the contacts page yet and noticed the "amendment" that's been made to his name or photo :D )

It was probably me that recommended the club before on here as I think I'm the only club member who posts on BE.
