advice on areas please
finding it very expensive on gold coast in general, seen a few properties in south brisbane where we've not been yet which seem too good to be true.
slacks creek
calamvale
marsden
springfield
browns plains
are they up and coming areas? or to be avoided?
any advice gratefully received.

I wouldnt live in any of those places - but lots of people do, obviously thats why they are suburbs with houses & not just bare dirt or bush .
Seriously, Calamvale is ok if you dont mind brick houses on small blocks in new housing estates. There are worse! But also a hell of a lot better. I personally wouldnt buy in any of those suburbs, the old motto, "You get what you pay for" certainly applies. If something seems too cheap to be true .... its because theres something wrong with it!

On reflection - if thats what you can afford then you need to see as much as possible in the area & be ruthless. Every suburb has a *good* area (with the possible exception of Woodridge, Inala & Eagleby .... somethings just cant be salvaged LOL), try to find it & see whats available in your price range. DONT be tempted to buy something just because its cheap. As I said, you get what you pay for.
