Post Ads directed at 'poms'

Right, have remembered my 'original' thread

Have noticed a few (radio) ads recently that are directed at British migrants.

THe main and most obvious one is for Foxtel. It's a totally british accent, and talks about making the missus happy with all the good shows from back home(or something like that).

There's another one with a british accent, very obviously trying to sound like Jamie Oliver, and I think it's promoting kitchens.

There's another one too I think, can't think of it... maybe involving houses.

Anyway, I think it's hilarious, and quite smart really, there are a lot of British migrants in Perth!

Theres an advert on TV here for a car insurance company that only insures classic and very expensive cars. The guy on it has a broad scots accent. I don't think they are aiming it at expats, its probably just a stereotype thing about scots being canny, and tight with their money.

Adverts using stereotypes? Surely not,

Cheers,
JTL

I'm wandering off the point here but you just reminded me. In Hong Kong Airport on the train thing between terminals the English language version of the announcements is a woman with a fairly broad Scottish accent. It's really cool.

The advert for the Brighton Estate in Butler features English northerners.

"Brighton, it's what a community should be like" (like Spain but without the Dagos)

Eastenders being marketed on Foxtel has put me right off.
Milo has a promotion for a holiday back to the UK but I haven't won yet
