Default Adelaide validation trip

We are leaving on the 16th of may travelling to Langkawi and spending 9 days at the sheraton beach resort. Any body stayed there in the past? any comments?
We then arrive in adelaide on the 27th of May staying for 2 weeks in the Glenelg Grand.
We have decided to have a good holiday, validate as well and mix pleasure with a general scouting trip looking at work, housing areas schools etc..
We have 4 children and are looking for suggestions from anyone who has been to either of these places in the past about good things to do for the Kids.
We have already had some good advice on Adelaide Brits, but always find some great advice on this forum.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Magic Mountain at Glenelg, but its winter so kids might not want to go on water slides

Go up to Mt Lofty and see the view of Adelaide. Kids will love going to Cleland wildlife park where they can pat kangaroos etc. Go to Victor Harbour and see the penguins, walk across to Granite Island.
Go indoor skiing at Mt Thebarton.
Ride the Popeye boat down the River Torrens and visit the zoo.....
lots of stuff for kids to do!!

The Grand is a very nice hotel, Glenelg is very built up and touristy, go to other beaches further south - aldinga etc where there is not many people or for a very different beach go to St Kilda where you can walk almongst the mangroves and there is a huge adventure playground as well!

Hope this helps!
