adelaide update

Hi everyone,Bit of a nightmare since last week as our rental in seacliff did`nt happen leaving us searching again. The dutch B who`s property it was decided we paid too easily and decided to tell the agent to remarket it again 50 dollars dearer.scumbags.Not lost heart yet we`ve only been here a week!!Today was a good day, rain was predicted but never happened,so pram in hand we walked along the esplanade at somerton park into glenelg and settled for lunch at the holdfast marina. The water was like a duckpond today and it was great to walk in an area like this.No matter how much you earn in london you cannot buy what we did today. It reminded us after all the hastle we`ve had why we`re here, beats walking to tesco in harold wood.Everyody is so freindly and most say hello when you pass on the esplanade, thats if their not jogging or powerwalking. When we returned around 5pm james the neices other half got back from work and we decided to walk with a couple of beers the 30 yards to the beach where we emptied a small eskie of west end draght before dinner.Sunday we`re off to the poms picnic in belair national park that the adelaide brits group have organised which we`re really looking forward to.Sindy and mash who used to post here a lot will be there and no doult some others. Not missing to much yet will let you know when that kicks in. jockney:)

Hi Jockney

Glad you are all well in Adelaide! Please keep posting us updates! Be interested to hear about the job situation for electricians, as my hubby is a sparky too, and we are heading for Adelaide next year!

Best of luck to you

Hi Jockney

Congratulations, you're finally living your dream!!!
Do keep us posted as alot of people on here are heading your way, myself included!!
Isn't Glenelg lovely!! We were there two years ago and fell in love with the place, especially the tram ride.
When you get you're bearings can you let me know which is the most competive place to buy real estate. We were going to head up towards Happy Valley, but now feel it maybe too much out of the way of the hub bub. Any up and coming beach areas that still have reasonable house prices?

Cheers and best of luck, may see you there next year!

Jockney,
It seems that people here are ready to bleed brits dry, they assume that because you have migrated that your loaded, maybe it's for the best that you did not get this place.

Try Weston Raine and Horne on the Anzac Highway at Glenelg, very friendly people, and then theres the wednesday and saturday Advertiser always loads of rentals, this is how we got our place in Dover Gardens.

Good luck.

G'day Jockney,
Sorry to hear about the rental going pear shaped, although I'm sure you'll find a rental soon there's loads out there "too many investers buying to make a nest egg for them selfs" As Colin said look in Wed and Sat Advertiser pages and pages in last weeks !

We are at Flagstaff hill so we have the best of both worlds the hills and the sea close by "we think so anyway" have you been to Port Noarlunga ? waves are good here. We too are looking forward to the warmer weather can't wait!

Good luck
Juls

Hey Jockney, sorry about the rental worries, you could try Brock Residential or Toop & Toop, and others who advertise executive rentals in the Advertiser saturday real estate section (I seem to recall that you were going to splash out and rent an upmarket joint near the beach, so these agents are more likely to have what you want on their books).

See you at the picnic, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! adelaidegirl
