Today they and their offspring inhabit most of the Northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Well I think you need to look closer to home BondiPom rather than slag off a beautiful little city like Adelaide.
Some people need to get out more and spend less time being an internet nerd! :scared:

Most people think so. Adelaide has never been known for its dynamism. More wowsers per square mile there than anywhere else in Australia.

HE PUT the buzz into Dublin and reinvigorated Manchester, but John Montgomery says South Australia's capital is a lost cause.
You been to Dublin lately?
Expensive.
The locals are not allowed into most of the city centre bars. They want tourists only.
Dublin is now only good for a stag or hen weekend.
John Montgomery you done a great job mate.

Like any country different parts of the country stereotype each other.
Thick Northerners, Southern Softies, Welsh Sheep shaggers. Need I go on?
Maybe your friends at work are proof that they are not very bright in Melbourne.

The city has some basic economic problems due to size, remoteness and other institutional factors. Unless your kids are in one of Adelaides specialised industries they may well find the place limiting career wise. That is not slagging off but reality.

A little bit of a generalisation isnt it? As ONE of those descendants that live to the north of Adelaide - I and ALL my family are not dole-bludgers, we all contribute to society in a postive and constructive way. Currently in England I returned to the village my grandparents left, and thank god they did! Foresight I would say, and the best bloody ten pounds they ever spent!
I agree that Adelaide is quiet, slow etc etc - hence why I have worked in England for the past few years to gain the experience I couldnt have got in Adelaide. In fact most of my friends have left Adelaide to persure careers but are slowly returning to build businesses, homes and families.
I think the government needs to do more to keep young people who are educated (ie not self destructive dole-bludgers) in the state and employed. Adelaide will never be as popular as Sydney, Melbourne or Brissie, but it does have its qualities.....

Well, here is the go ...... most people living in Adelaide couldn't care less what you think, we live here, we love it, and we don't spend all our time sitting on the internet slagging off other cities, or trying to put people off going to them. Get yourselves a life guys. adelaidegirl

South Australia is the worst and poorest state in Australia, it consists of ugly wasteland and desert , except for Adelaide which
is an attractive city but is full of weirdoes, mad christain evangelicans and serial killers. There is more of a class system in Adelaide then other cities because it was settled by free settlers rather then convicts. Last century
the state's economy relied on copper. A few leading families called
the ' Establishment' owned all the mines, had all the wealth and lived in luxury, while the rest of the population lived in poverty
and worked in the mines. Today nothing much has changed the
state is still run by the same snobish incompetant establishment
which has sent the state bankrupt through a series of financial
disasters such as the state bank disaster and the Multi-Function Polis disaster. The establishment ensures their children get the few full time quality jobs available by sending them to elite expensive, snobish private schools while every one else has
to leave the state to get a decent job, or stay and be condemed to a life of poverty on welfare or a crap low paying casual job.

This is exactly the kind of thread that has made this forum a bit of a ghost town recently.
Members talking out of their backsides (especially those who have never set foot in the town!!what idiots)
Misinformation, and just a very childlike need to wind people up for the sake of it.
Lets pick the bones out of this load of rubbish shall we?
Crime capital of Australia? What a joke! The link presented regarding this issue, dates back to 1966! Get real. I tend to look at whats happening here and now, and considering the death toll in Melbourne and Sydney with ferral gangland killings over recent months and race riots on the streets of Refern, i suggest you are making a fool of yourself on that score.
As for the the guy who didnt get his contracts in Adelaide? I am pretty sure if he HAD got them, this city would have been the best thing since sliced bread. Sour grapes, move on.
This city does need some remodernisation and restructuring, but no more so than any other city in Australia. There are large parts of Sydney that in my opinion need bulldozing and starting again, and i am sure the same goes for the rest.
I really dont care about politics, and i sure as hell dont care what those who have never lived here think of it. All i care about is my happines, and i found it here.

Personally I thought some were leaving due to personal attacks, not parochialism.
