Can any of you give me advice on acerage living in Australia. We are hoping to buy acerage but my husband is concerned as to whether any of it will be usuable.

ie safe for the kids to play and ramble. Many acerage plots are covered with bush and woodland which I love but my husband is concerned that it would not be safe for the children to play in due to snakes spiders etc.

Any Views/Advice ?

We live in QLD (sunshine coast hinterland) on approx 3 acres which includes about 1 1/2 acres of rainforest we have 5 children and the whole family loves living the life,the area is quite beautiful and although there are variouse snakes and spiders about we would never consider living in town again,we did however make alot of effort in educating the whole family in the dangers of certain wildlife 2 years ago we lived in Norwich

P.S. any more than 6 acres can be hard work!

Don't worry about the safety aspect as people being bitten by a snake or spider make headline (if it results in serious injury or death anyway) news here as it's so rare.

But the important thing about acreage is to ensure you have an adequate source of water but if you are prepared to go inland (even 100kms) you can pick up acrerage property realy cheaply.
