Looking to go perth or Brisbane ish in May.

Anyone know of accomodation that wont cost the earth for family of 5.

There are young children so something suitable for family.

For Brisbane I can really recommend the Spring Hill Garden Apartments. We booked through Wotif, but you can go to the directly too. Good central location, nice big apartment, and secure parking.
