Default Accommodation near Brisbane airport

Can someone reccomend reasonably priced accomadation that will not cost a fortune in a taxi when i arrive early hours of morning into brisbane airport.
Family of 4 planning on staying somewhere a couple of nights to get over journey and then either pick up a hire car and drive/fly to Cairns.
spent all day looking but cant decide on anything (easier if i knew areas)
need to keep kids happy as well for a couple of days if i can.
Didnt fancy getting straight into hire car and driving into city (get lost when its light)
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Think there's a formula one hotel next to the airport. Where we are is about 20-30 mins away costs about $40-50 taxi ride. Lots of accomodation along the kingsford smith road which is the road to the airport. Yellow cabs or black and white cabs are the two companies here. Both have websites and calculators so you can get a rough idea of cost. Might be worth getting one into City that way you've got Southbank, museum shops etc for family. Holiday Inn there I've heard is good value.

Cheers

Ginny
