Accidental pension contributions

Hi all,

Well this is embarassing and frustrating. I'd really apreciate some thoughts on this.

I've just found out that my mother, without my knowledge (but with best intentions), has been contributing to my UK stakeholder pension for the 9 years after I left the UK.
I had never bothered asking for any statements from the UK.

The worrying thing is that this account is up over 1000% in that time as I moved it to a SIPP and got lucky on some shares.

So I'm guessing that this pension account is non-compliant. Will the HMRC gobble it all up now? Or do you think that I just have to pay a fine?

Any thoughts on how to fix this would be appreciated. I cannot find any info online that covers this issue.

Many thanks

If you find out what the process is or a solution, please update this thread. I've been contributing to my SIPP also, for a little over 11 years.
I never even considered looking at mine, due to the fact I cant use it until I'm 55. I suspect you'd probably need accountant advice. I think I'd better also take a look.
