Abu Dhabi Airport
Daughter looking at flights back to the UK. None of us have been through Abu Dhabi so have no idea - is a two hour stop between flights long enough, if necessary, to get to another gate and/or any security? I know it would be nigh on impossible in Dubai, is AD the same?

As for Abu Dhabi, did it last September, I do recall we had quite a long walk, I don't recall it being unreasonable. I think we had a 2 hour lay over and we had plenty of time to spare for a bite to eat and a beer in the bar.
The new mid field terminal (not finished yet) looks like a cracker.

Thanks guys. Even knowing it's down to them to get you to your flight doesn't stop you worrying about it. However when it's a choice between 2 hours and 14 it's a no brainer.

I think I did it with a 90 minute connection and loads of time to spare.

I believe it's temporary as it looks like they are building a new terminal

She's got her Kindle, providing there's at least a floor to sit on she'll be good. Apparently she's got seven hours there on the way back.

As said, 2 hours is adequate and it's on the same ticket. The only problem which can arise is if the incoming flight is late but it's rare these days. They quote an ETA but you invariably arrive before this time (and then they can say how efficient they are and they meet their targets). Dubai isn't a problem at 2 hours either - did that in Jan and March on < 2 hours between flights without any problems and even had time in the lounge (and that's even if you have to get the train from A to B gates or vice-versa).

Re: Abu Dhabi Airport
Agreed - Abu Dhabi is a relatively compact airport (it certainly is relative to Dubai).
Transited through AUH last Friday on my return to Melbourne from LHR, and was waiting close to the gate for my next departure about 45 minutes after the incoming flight arrived, after clearing security.
If concerned book seats close to the front of the incoming flight so you disembark more quickly.
Best regards.

AUH is fine. Well organised and easy enough. Totally unlike DXB which can be murder when it's busy.

Re: Abu Dhabi Airport
Abu Dhabi airport was great again, but lets face it, any break between 18 hours of flying is great. I was disappointed to learn that the distance between the UK and Australia doesn't seem to have lessened at all
