We have, We have had a 3.6 by 6 metre one mostly buried(up to just below tha water line in our back garden. It cost, 3500 for the pool(new from clark rubber)1200 for the bobcat bloke to dig the hole and take the extra fill we didn't need, we paid 750 for blokes to build/install it(can do it yourself but it only took them one day and was a lot less stressful for us) then we backfilled ourself which took ages!! Well we did it over a few days, and yes it was 1 part cement I think to 5 sand(just the stuff that'd come out when you dug the hole) We're in Perth and that might vary depending on your soil type.
It's still a work in progress but picture attached!

Looks great, and a lot cheaper than fibreglass
Why does it need to be cemented in, surely its not going anywhere

I have a friend who has recently done this, fully sunk, and yes they did have to set it with a sand/cement mix.
It looks really good!!
