Default ABC only for the educated

An interesting take on funding for the national broadcaster ABC:

"Parliamentary secretary for Family and Community Services, Ross Cameron, went further, proposing the ABC be floated and sold to the people of Australia, as he said it catered only to the educated and should not be financed by the rest of the population. "

Bloody ABC , buy far to many programs from that Pommy BBC lot.
Them Poms are far to smart for us Aussies , we could get a level above ourselves watching them well made BBC programs , stick to the low level Aussie soaps .
Ban all Brit TV from channel 7, 9,10 and SBS , then we would be left with a few Yank programs and a couple of Aussie soaps.

About time we bought in Chinese TV programs , big part of the population is not being looked after.

You can pick up some very good Aus programmes in Europe, eg good old Rexy Hunt's Fishing Adventures and Steve Irwin Fighting With The Dirty Crocs.

Aussie TV at its best.

And I mean that most sincerely.

Cheers - Don

That all you can think of , no wonder 80% of Australian TV is bought in.

One Australian made programme I do like is ABC's Australian Story. Most of the time I'm watching The Bill, period dramas - must be homesick!

I can only assume that Ross Cameron went to the same state school as my two - if you go through that kind of education, it would make David Beckham look like a University Professor...

Surely Ross, that should be "catered for" not "catered to" - or is that Aussie education for you (or perhaps I`m watching too many Morse repeats on UK TV....)
