Can say all the hard stuff when in opposition. Of course funds will be provided for housing, travel etc as I am sure people on the dole are not able to save for these.

What he should be doing is trying to get the young into work, employers want experience these days however they are not prepared to let young people get it.

Easy to say things when in opposition -you never have to go through with an idea.
The question should be " do the mines want unskilled people with poor work ethic " I would guess not.

yes the mines are dangerous places, do they want unskilled people who don't even want to be there working there?

Haven't said anything about the unemployed just stating the obvious that mine jobs are hard to get without a skill or job history (IMO )

They wouldnt put unskilled people down a mine. You can be trained up in no time, you dont need a degree to work down a mine.

Abbott to force unemployed into the mines
I love the objective language there! Makes him sound like Stalin.

Perhaps, fifteen years from now, people will be reading a book called One Day in the Life of Dazzanitski Boganoff.

Most mines in WA are open cut so you don't go 'down' them.

Training, especially safety training, is a big thing in the mining industry.

I dont know if youve ever been to a mining town but some of the blockheads they employ to go up/down/around mines will have you wondering why they dont just give 3 year olds the job to begin with.

No I dont get your drift but anyway.

Ive stayed in Roxby Downs, SA and can tell you that any buck-toothed simpleton can get a job as a miner. The average night at the pub called to mind that song the 'good ship venus'. Blockheads aplenty. Its good money but in keeping with the topic of the thread, theres a reason why the unemployed arent already 'down' mines and thats because a lot of these mining areas lack infrastructure.
