Australian residents need to apply via the Governor-General.

Certainly looks that way for PR and citizens, I jusy wasn't sure whether that would apply for temporary residents too? Not knowing precisely which temp visa doesn't help of course, could be anything from a tourist visa upwards!

OP gets a prize for a question never asked on here before, anyway!

You’ve answered too many immigration questions ;)

They are not going to care whether you’re a PR or not. Immigration status won’t be a concern.

Thanks for replies. The way I understand then is that UK citizens but not PR living in Australia should apply directly to the Anniversary Office in Buckingham Palace.

See BiPs words at Post 5 above - visa status is irrrelevant, its where you actually LIVE, if you live in Australia, use that link via the Governer General's Office. Apply direct if you live in the UK.
