Default 5 weeks to go and need advice on insurance

what do you guys do about insurance? I live in the Bahamas and thinking about taking out travel insurance or might keep the insurance I have for a few more months which is supposed to cover me worldwide.

is it possible to buy insurance from an Aussie insurance co online before I leave? I guess I would still need travel insurance.

its all so confusing.

Don't think you can get Aussie insurance until you have a permanent Australian address. We cancelled our UK insurance with effect of the date we left the UK (got a refund as well) and took out travel insurance that continued for 15 days after date of arrival in Aus. Lots of travel insurance ends the moment you set foot in Customs which worried me. I had visions of being robbed at the conveyor belt and having no insurance At least with 15 days, you have time to sort out Australian insurance without being uncovered.

We got ours from GoWalkabout and I know the UK Post Office do a similar policy. No idea where you'd go, unless you can find an online policy with the 15 days. I'd check your current policy and see if everything is covered after the time you no longer have the Bahamas permanent address.

Thanks.

Yeah I think I have to be upfront with my insurance co and let them know I am leaving the country and can I be covered in OZ for a few months and also while I'm traveling there. I only want medical insurance. I'm traveling very light...just me a suitecase, laptop and my bass guitar. most of my funds will be available via atm.
