5 Days Hols in Perth - any must-see recommendations?
We're staying at a hotel on Hay Street near Stirling Gardens and we'd appreciate all you Perthites' input on good stuff to do and see-also any restaurant favourites?

And ..... I would definitely recommend getting the boat over to Rottnest Island. About 40 mins from Hillarys Harbour, less from Perth. Hire bikes, go early and enjoy the beautiful paradise island. We LOVED it, and had a huge beach to ourselves about 3 miles from the harbour. Oh, and on the way back to the harbour we stopped at the beach just before it and there were pelicans fishing just off the beach. Beautiful.

And Perth zoo is well worth a visit. A short ferry across the river and a stroll the other side. Really nice, exotic zoo.
And Yanchep National park just north of Perth. See koalas, have a nice lunch in the tea rooms and have a walk around the lake. Bliss.

And for fish 'n chips...Cicerellos in Fishing Boat Harbour, Fremantle ...a great experience and the best fish and chips I have ever had. We are regular visitors there Next door to Cicerellos is 'Kailis' ' but we don't think it's as good as Cicerellos

Fremantle Prison is probably the only world class attraction. Strangely, everything worth doing "in" Perth is outside Perth IMHO. The tram / sightseeing bus are good starting points to spend a couple of hours getting your bearings in the central area though. Then if anything takes your fancy go back at your own pace. The thing about greater-Perth that makes it so good are the things you do at a slow pace (parks, beaches, walks, drives, dives, surfs, rides, barbies, games etc) so trying to get a sense of them in 5 days will be hard.

Hi
i agree - Rottonest Island is one of my best days out ever. You can cycle and snorkle and have a fab time.
Also loved the Zoo and a water park, forgotton the name, south of Perth.

Went on the open top bus tour around Perth today with my mum and dad. Cost $50 for a family ticket which took us all around the CBD, Burswood and King's Park, taking 2 hours. You can hop on and off the bus as you like and can even use the tickets a second time, so we're going back next week and having a look round the casino!
Also went on the Captain Cook Swan river tour - $78 for lunch, criuse up the Swan to a winery for wine tasting and afternoon tea on the way back. Wine was free, think we drank $78 each in wine alone. Excellant day out (from what I remember of it!) Just make sure you have someone to pick you up
