Default 475 Visa Bunbury or Mandurah or Other

I have been granted a 475 visa for Western Australia. So was wondering which are the best places to go and work and some availability of odd jobs. I was thinking of Bunbury or Mandurah.
Also , I need to register with the Authorities once I arrive, so the condition of 20000 AUD , can I show it partly as property in my Home country and partly as liquid funds. Or do I need to show it as pure liquid assets.

Hi daunted, , I can go to any place in Western Australia with my visa, except for Perth. SO you living in bunbury , hows the place as compared to Mandurah. Nopes no family, coming alone initially. I am an Analytical Chemist , but dont think will be able to bag a job in the same field.

I am also on 475 visa. Can you please help where I should go ? Bunbury or Mandurah. What is the job scenario ? Which one should I choose? I am really confused. I cant go to Perth so have to live in either Mandurah or Bunbury or other regional areas for 2 years and work 1 year. Please suggest!!!

Hey there, I am in Bunbury since two weeks now. Public transportation not so good here. Been Hunting for jobs, but no luck till now. Bunbury is a quite place, dont expect it to be anywhere near Perth. Few people, everything closed down by 5 pm. Rent cheaper than Perth. No idea about Mandurah, as I moved directly to Bunbury from Perth. Whats your profession though and when are you planning to arrive.

Your best bet in Bunbury is to write to the Millennium Chemicals who have chem ops plants at Australind and Kemerton. A direct approach can't hurt but I know they normally recruit through Chandler McLeod.
Another might be the desal plant at Binningup - they were recruitng and are expanding but that was some time ago now.
In your trade Bunbury is probably a better bet than Mandurah.
Close to Mandurah is the Kwinana strip with lots of jobs and Perth has numerous assay labs servicing the mines but this doesn't help.

Don't give up on Bunbury just yet - being a seaside town its quieter in winter. We were there but now in Mandurah - that has likewise quietened right down with the arrival of winter.

Good luck

Hi Pats:

I have been granted 475 visa recently. I have booked flight for 19th July. Heading to Bunbury. I am an ICT Business Analyst. I am glad to know that you are now there.

Can't find any suitable IT job in Bunbury. I am ready to bag any job at the start. I have sent you a PM. Would appreciate if you kindly respond on that. Hope to meet you soon.

Cheers

Pervez

Hi folks, I am planning to come to Bunbury with my family (wife and a boy of 1.5 years age) by May 2013. I am an accountant CIMA UK qualified. Would appreciate if you could guide as to the jobs structure there and how to handle the search. Moreover I am also looking at the accommodation for my family where can I get a reasonable accommodation, I was thinking to stay in some motel etc and find a suitable accommodation rather than directly hire from internet search engine. I am willing to socialize there if anyone wants to.

For a lot of good information on Bunbury, have a look at www.mybunbury.com.au. You will be able to source short term accommodation that includes apartments and houses, which are much more suited to families than motels or hotels.
For employment prospects, subscribe to the South Western Times, a weekly local newspaper that delivers every Thursday. You can do this through www.thewest.com.au - Regional Newspapers. The West Australian also has an extensive online employment section that should include Bunbury.
You will find rental properties significantly cheaper than those in Perth and every day living is certainly more affordable. Lots of good schools, hospitals, beaches and parks.
Bunbury is a good place for young families to settle. There are many support groups there, including at least one for new migrants. It will be a great adventure.
