457IE Granted :)

We just found out this afternoon that our 457IE visa application has been approved.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all on this forum.
We had just about given up hope of emmigrating when we found out that we could take this route.

Thanks to Go Matilda, everything went well and we can now sleep at night.

Good luck to everyone else brave enough to follow their dreams

Love

Well done - I hope we have the same result (we're using Go Matilda as well). One quick question, how long after submitting your application did the decision take? We're getting itchy feet and the form's only been in two weeks!!

What business are you starting?

I will be a recruitment business - including finding roles for UK migrants in Australia and sourcing UK nationals to fill specific skill shortage roles in Australia.

What are you going to be doing?

Kev, Can I set up your Adelaide outpost for you??

Mash..

I'm transferring my Chartered Quantity Surveying practice (me!) to Adelaide. I have a tentative offer to buy into an existing practice though which I'll explore once I'm there.

Mash - what are you going to be doing? I seem to remember a number of your postings relating to IT.

Seriously though, if things take off in Sydney, then I've got potential partners already in Melbourne and Perth, but nothing in Adelaide. so if you're serious....

Best wishes

Hi to you all,

Just put my house on the market..yipee

Our application took 28 working days (i was told this when i rang up) and thats exactly how long it took.
We submited our medicals with the application tho......so it made the final decision come quicker. Usually you get the ok and then submit medicals before they give the final decision.

Hope this helps..i know how frustrating it is to have your life on hold.

Skills assessment was as a 'General Manager'. I'm definitely not IT, but supply chain management, business process change management, training/development and stuff. Looking for a change of direction, very flexible...

Sounds like an interesting opportunity..

28 days?

Hi Louise

Are you sure you mean 28 days ie: 5 and a half weeks or do you
mean 38 days, 7 and a half weeks? When exactly did you submit your application? You now have us worried that ours has been overlooked as our application was submitted on 22.01.03.

Julie and Alex

Hi Julie and Alex,

Dont worry..its 28 Working days..not actual days, so thats 6 weeks. We submitted our application on 22nd Jan and it arrived with the Embassy on the 23rd Jan.
We front loaded our application by submitting our chest xrays and medicals.

You should hear any day now.

You can fax the High Commission but they wont talk to you in person. fax - 020 7465 8218.

Hope this helps

Louise

Hi Louise

Thank you for your message!
Did you fax the High Commission and if so did they fax you back to let you know how your application was progressing? Did your agent phone you with the result? Getting more nervous - waiting for the phone call.

Hi,
I was getting really impatient so i faxed the high commision.
I left my work number, but wasnt at my desk so a guy called George left me a message to say that he was sending us medical forms!!!! i didnt understand the message as i had already sent medicals.
The next thing, i got an email from our agent saying that we had approval - it turns out that they found our medicals and they emailed our agent (all happened on the same day).

We havnt had it in writing yet.

Mark and myself are going to Brisbane in 12 days for two weeks to look around. We are starting at Hervey Bay and working our way down.

Where and when do you think you will be heading out? What business will you be doing.

We have two children, 10 and 5. It would be good if we could keep in touch with you.

Bye for now

Louise and Mark
