Would somebody please confirm that on acceptance of the 457IE visa a visit must be made within 12 months. We do not propose moving for a year or so but would like to apply for the visa shortly.

hi bleggy,
we have just applied for a 457ie visa and were told that you can go anytime up to the 4 year limit.

Thanks for the info. We are planning on heading to Adelaide. I am heading over in a few weeks and during the trip I will be hoping to add some meat to the bones of my business plan.

Where are you heading and what line of business are you looking at?

hi bleggy,
we are heading for brisbane we are in catering so looking in that sort of line. they are taking 7-8 weeks at least to process at the moment. what business you in??

Hi Bleggy.

There's no Initial Entry Date on a 457-visa - you can come and go as you please for 4 years from the date the visa is granted.

Hi Bleggy,

I think you will find that there is a practical limitation on the 457ie visa
if you either want another one or to move to PR, and that is establishing
the business described in your application; when that business is running
you may find it difficult to do that at a distance according to the current
requirements.

Can I just confirm that my take on this is correct. I can apply for the 457IE visa now with the intention of heading straight out and setting up the business. If I decide to wait for say a year or 2 before mobing and circumstances dictate that the time is right, I can then head over and providing I meet the PR regulations within a 12 month period but before the 4 year expiry I will be OK?

Sorry, only just came across your request for confirmation. Yes, the 457 IE
visa is a four year multiple entry visa, but you should plan with respect to
both PR and the possibility of needing a renewal 457IE visa onshore. Read

month requirement.

Basically if you want to apply for PR on the basis of an established
business in Australia your business needs to have been operating with you
here as principal. See the detailed explanation of the business migration
rules on our website.

On the other hand, a 457IE can now be rolled over, but you need at least 15
months here already - see

u/allforms/temp_457ie.htm#indepfao . Of course,
nothing prevents anyone from lodging a further 457IE application offshore...
