Default From 457 to PR

Hey guys,

We are travelling soon on a 457 to Perth. How long before we could apply for PR? Is it difficult? Pro's / Con's? Advice/Suggestions? How long before we should apply etc?

Thanks

You can apply as soon as you qualify (if you do qualify - not all 457 holders do).

Yes, JAJ is right you can apply for a Permanent visa anytime if you have enough points. I checked with a Migrant agent, and they said I could even apply prior to arrival if I had the points.

We are probably going to apply for our own, instead of waiting out the 2 years. As we like Australia and PR will make us feel more secure, also has certain benefits to our advantages. e.g We have son and wants University in the future, Uni fees are higher for temp visa as classed as overseas students.

Employer nominated migration options are not points tested, although points tested is an option if employer won't sponsor.

State nomination may also be part of the answer.
