45 years old and a chance to move from UK
Hi
Probably the most boring question ???
Well my company has a depot in Adelaide and want me to move, they are going to sort a work Visa for me,
Question is I have debts of around £ 16k and still want to pay them , can I still get in ?
I have no real qualifications but just lots of experience in logistics management ?
They reckon i should be ok as they have a job for me ?
Any advice please ... they will not pay much £ 42k uk. + Car

Welcome to BE!
Debt does not prevent entry to Australia.
You have a job offer and work visa so experience and qualifications shouldn't be a concern.
That equates to about $63k which is a bit below the national average but Adelaide is one of the cheaper cities to live in so you should be OK. Plus assuming you are on a 457 visa you will be elegible to receive some of your wages as LAFHA (do a search for explanations of what this is.)

i always thought sponsorship was if an employer couldn't fulfil the job in Aus and it was a specialised job. no offence to the OP but there must be thousands of logistics managers out of work in Aus

To the OP - get outta there. Ask your employer to keep your UK job open for you for 12 months or so (secondment) so you've got something to go back to if you don't like it, cant afford to live here etc.
Good Luck!

I agree, but the fact that they have offered the job in the first place suggests they might have tested the local market and cant find who they want, or maybe they have trouble keeping people. From memory I think Adelaide is one of the citys that qualifies under the RSMS - so PR without quals based on experience is entirely possible - I might be wrong here and it might have changed since i applied. Doesn't have to be a specialised job either for RSMS - you just have to be able to classify it on the ANZSCO list or whatever its called.

"Having trouble keeping people" is not a good enough excuse for Aussie employers to bring people in when there are plenty of unemployed people over here
Like I said, this is not aimed personally at the OP as it's not his fault his employers have asked him to come here. It just stinks that employers can get away with this when there are plenty unemployed who can do that work and some people have paid thousands to come to Aus on a skilled visa and can't find work

Aus has plenty of unskilled labour looking for work.
Anyway's like I said, it's not your fault and I wish you all the best. Your employers however should be heavilly fined for bringing in unskilled labour when there are plenty of skilled and unskilled people who can't find unskilled work in this country

Debt does not stop you getting in.
Like Buzzy said, the salary sounds average and Adelaide seems to be an affordable place so you should be OK especially if you have money to bring over to help set you up.
Good luck mate

Perth will be going the same way soon with the reclassification for immigration purposes being demoted to small town status.
Business and the Corporate sector have far too much say in far too many matters in this country .
There is not the work in most sectors that should allow this to happen.
Come the next down turn and the results will become rather more apparent with the competition for jobs.
Rather typical short term thinking that this country seems at times to excell at.
Nothing against the poster at all. Good luck with the move. Adelaide is smallish but a nice enough place.

In general there is an abuse of the immigration system being undertaken by certain employers in this country and in my opinion the authorities can at times be far too lax about it.
