Nice cooling breeze (ok - that's an understatement - it's quite a vicious wind) has just reached us in the Mona Vale area. I might be able to sleep tonight afterall! Was still 37 degrees when we drove back from Pymble half an hour ago.

Hope all of you on the central coast are ok.

You read my mind Binbird. I was just thinking about the bush fires. This kind of wind will do it no favours at all. A real worry.

Hi

The wind has just hit us over here also.

The sky is still very red in the direction of the bushfires at Woy Woy - looks like no improvement over there. Will catch up with it on the Channel 10 news at 11ish.

I think the F3 is open again now though.

No its closed again. Things are looking a bit dogey over by Woy Woy and Tascott and there are fires over here at Umina which are not looking good. We can see the flames and ash is falling on us. Its bloody hot, our living room temp is 31 at the moment, but the wind has strated at hopefully will cool us down a lot, but will push the fires back this way. Elvis the helicopter has been working all afternoon but as its night this has now stoped. One lucky thing is that we are so close to the sea and he does a drop every 2 minutes.

Hopefully will still be in the house tomorrow.

Must have been a big disappoint ment to you Bix :D

Well everything Umina end has seems to have gone away overnight, although it is harder to tell in the day when its overcast. We have just had a quick 5-10 min spurt of heavy rain, could have done with it lasting a lot longer but every little helps.

Is all well over there? Fires seem to have spread to Kariong but the rain and reduced wind will have helped.

I see the trains aren't operating at the moment.

Still a few bits smouldering around me at the moment, but with this cooler weather am hoping it won't re-ignite. Kariong seems to have got the brunt of it overnight. Yes I have heard the trains arent running today, its due to some buckling of the tracks from the fire/heat. I am hoping it will be ok by tomorrow as I have to go back to work and need the train. Otherwise I think we have to be bused to Hornsby.

Hiya Poshrice

According to our aussie neighbours the last 10 days have been uncharacteristically hot. They said you usually get the odd hot day (i.e. 35) plus but these are usually spread rather than consecutive. January and February will continue to be quite roasty and if the sun don't get ya the humidity will! Hope you are coming to somewhere over here with air con! :D
