How badass has it got to be pf ? Get yourself a Hummer, they're only about £95 000. Got a nice little 8 litre engine tho.

Better ask my wife. She said she wants a big jeep. I said 'Jeep'? Yep. It turns out a jeep means a good 4WD. Not Jeep with a capital J. So any decent 4WD will do - I just don't know what to buy.

I'm laughing reading this post as my husband has some sort of Landrover fetish - he has just sold the green heap of junk 1984 Landrover 90, which has casued more marital disputes in the 6 months we had it than in the previous 6 years - imagine your driveway being turned into a repair garage for clapped out bits of junk - you get the picture - I have sold my MX5 to help finance our aussie application and now I have the real task - parting him from his Discovery....We have had no probs with this car except it costs a fortune to service and I must admit we took it to Wales offroading and it was fantastic.

Now our Aussie brother in law says that Landrovers are fairymobiles and we should get a real car when we arrive - what does he drive you may ask - LADA NIVA!!!

My husband he is adamant he will replace the Disco when we eventually get there and last nights Globetrekkers showing rangers driving along the beach in Defenders on Fraser Island QLD did nothing but add to his case that Landrovers really are the best off road.

I guess reading the posts reading about the low wages and increasing prices we will be lucky to buy a Lada......

the Hummer,or Humvee as its known is quite simply the best vehicle to get anywhere this side of a tank. The development into this vehicle is far far more than any normal manufactures would ever do as its a military project, always has been.Since it was designed it has apparently seen 5 million man hours of development!I worked on them with Alvis vehicles to build SAS assault vehicles back in 1995.It is quite simply awsome. When they did the extreme heat testing they loaded 5 tonne into a trailer and dragged it through death valley up every hill they could find, flat out.None of them broke down or even boiled over.I have seen the ultimate test with one though,in low ratio you can drive up a 90 degree, vertical wall. You approach at 45 degrees and when the wheel touches the wall you turn square to the wall.It will just climb straight up and sit on the rear tail door with all four wheels spinning. You never have trouble parking these at the local supermarket
Its a 6.8GM diesel, turbo'd and will not let you down....its as good as it will ever get...i'd love one, dream on eh!And whats that saying,Land Rover ,the best four by four by far.....hahaha
I think the humvee is a legal import into NZ now at 135KNZ$ :scared:

Queensland Government brought hummers to patrol prison perimeters, broke every one of them.

Aussies break everything.

Dumb Aussie politicians conned by a fast talking yank?

Never?

Think it had something to do with the 8 tonne of armour they decided to screw to it.

Clarkson had one on Top Gear a few months back & it did look impressive. He was driving it around on country roads, so you can imagine what that was like, it is a bit wide !. It is totally impractable for the UK (Chris Eubank has one), but would be great downunder. When Clarkson opened it up on a main road he was getting 1mpg !, which is a bit thirsty.
