As a former police office in Queensland, and thinking back about licence transfers
_within_ Australia, I really really doubt it

Most Aussies seem to have 3 points on their licences most of the time.

The car rental agencies have no way to access that information that I am aware of
(and I doubt they would care).

I wouldn't worry about it

Yes they have, many countries including the UK, write the endorsement into
licence, therefore the hire company may be able to see it. Now I don't know about
Oz, but some of the large hire companies will not rent in the UK if you have
points on your licence.

Oh dear. Glad there's no visible evidence on Oz licences. I'm on 'good behaviour'*
for having racked up 12points in less than 3 years (all for speeding on the way to
work) and recently rolled up to the Hertz counter at Heathrow and got given the keys
to a Vauxhall Omega for a coupla weeks of holiday driving around the UK.

* used to be 12points = lose your licence for 3 mths, and I was panicking, but
instead I got a letter offering a second option: drive on 1 lonely point for a
year, and if you lose it, it's 6mths with no licence. Double or nothing. No option
really. You should see me now- 4am, nothing in sight across 4 empty lanes, and I'm
in my 6 cylinder,
3.8l car pottering around at 60kph.... LJ

Hi Thunder. My point was in _Aus_ they have no way to see it. Points are definately
_not_ shown on the licences.

Even the police have to dig down into the database to see the points someone has. In
all my years of driving I've not once been asked by _anyone_ how many points I have
on my licence.

Nothing like that here (afaik).
