2 Quick Questions
Hey, urm I am 16, (will be 17 at the time) and I have done my GCSE's. Do Australia except the GCSE and what school year would I join? Thanks! :)

Which state are you going to?
You could actually find yourself in a bit of a pickle. GCSEs are worth nothing in the scheme of things. At 17 you would usually find yourself in year 12 - hence the pickle. Australia is usually concerned about your year 12 results but they are the end point of a 2 year course and if you drop in half way then you are likely to disadvantage yourself and either not get a year 12 cert because you dont have enough credits or not get a good grade because you havent done all the work (just think about dropping into an A level course, half way through!). So, even though you would be a year older than most of the kids, your best bet would be to start year 11 in Jan/Feb (assuming you are coming here by then). There are other alternatives to getting your year 12 cert - you can do it in TAFE but if you want a competitive grade because you want to go to uni then that may not be the best option. If you dont want to go to uni then it is probably less of an issue. Is there anyway you could get A levels done before you arrive? Or are your parents dead set on coming right now? If you had A levels then the world would pretty much be your oyster. Edited to say - if you have done part of an A level course then you may get some credit for the part you have done but that is a matter of negotiation with the Ed dept of the state you are going to. |

It is unsure whether they would like to leave next summer or after that, so I asked in the case that they would leave next summer. How many subjects can you take in yr 11/12? It would be Victoria. |
