Yeah, don't we know it! We exchanged a lot of money at 2.31 after being advised that the AUS$ was on a down trend!

Blimley. We need to get our money across. Now I am going to wonder if to do it or not. What's everyone else doing???

The X rate appears to be very low at the moment. Anyone know the reason why?

Have you got your exchange rates round the wrong way?

It hasn't half gone down in 6 months

We got 2.49 when we transferred ours.

Re: 2.36 !!

Just looked and now at 2.37 for the cash we have thats a whopping $15 difference compared to the other day when it was 2.32.

Wouldn't it be nice if it was back on the up for a while. We xchange on our house next week with a completion date of 7th Sept and £200,000 to do something with - high interest here, transfere to $ now, if only my crystal ball were working.

Hoping to be in Oz early Dec so guess I will just have to sit tight and watch the markets - anyone out there with insider info they want to share???

It's probably related to the big losses being played out on the Asian stock market. That's my best guess.

The latest market info/forecast from HSBC is as follows:

2007:
Q1 2.43
Q2 2.36
Q3 2.48 (forecast)
Q4 2.43 (forecast)

2008:
Q1 2.40 (forecast)
Q2 2.40 (forecast)
Q3 2.35 (forecast)
Q4 2.35 (forecast)

Not exactly insider information and, of course, it won't be absolutely accurate but it's a useful guide. It doesn't look like we'll be going back to the days of 2.9 that I remember from a few years ago anytime soon!

Probably a demand/supply thing, there are so many Brits moving to Australia that now the AUD is worth more :(
