Re: 18 months in and settled!
Good onya Pol, :)
nice post ( not just because it's postive, but also 'cos you seem so much happier )... Let the good times roll! ;) Good karma being sent your way. x :) |
Re: 18 months in and settled!
Polly,
I am so glad that things are taking a good turn for you both. You are not a quitter or whinger and that has shown in your persistence through hard times. That is why you have made it all work and got 5 jobs!!. :) It is so easy for people to write c*** when they have not lived through things here for a long length of time. I know how things have been for you and I am so happy the good times are rollin' again. You both deserve it and the house looks fab. All the best for continued success and happiness here in Qld. And I drink to your new pad  If only I lived 80k's South I would join ya at your drinking club. |
Re: 18 months in and settled!
I often send K without saying who I am. What is it I say ? ..... oh yes, I remember. "Have some anonymous karma - Bix"
Foxes em every time. :D Like the majority on here I have never sent any "hate" karma and think that is just wormish. If you have a problem with someone tell them straight whether on the forum or in PM. Sorry you suffered that Polly...have sent you some real stuff to bury it with. ;) Now back to the point. Do you reckon a long term investment into Brisbane breweries could be worth it ? :D Just finish by saying good onya Poll and Mr.Bloke :) |

Foxes em every time. :D Nice post Poll. So pleased it's feeling like home now. The most important thing is your health and if that's getting better then there's not much wrong. Will try and send good karma to The Bloke for putting up with you :D ;) |
Re: 18 months in and settled!
Hi Polly,
Thanks for the photos - your new place looks fab - and I love the fact that its elevated! I can only imagine the comfort you must be feeling in your own place at last - I know that living in someone elses home (even if it is your hubby) can be a bit draining, cos you don't feel like you can change anything! Anyways, well done! Really pleased for you! See ya soon, W. :D |

Re: 18 months in and settled!
a no nonsense, warm post, just what the doctor ordered, so thanks polly... sitting here with a bundaberg dry and lime in the place i've wanted to be for so long, thinking there's got to be something wrong with me! but i do know your post made me feel better and more positive... and things do take time, you just need to hear it from others every so often, keeps you sane...
congrats on your new home, i envy you (in a nice way)... :) bob... |

I suppose what I want to get across is this - even if it takes time, it can get better, things can improve. It takes time to settle, it takes time to feel "at home". Even though I still miss family and friends, and emails tonight from my nieces can still raise a tear, I do now feel that perhaps I do belong here, and maybe Australia doesn't hate me after all. The Bloke has put up with a lot, but he also thinks that we have really fallen on our feet with our new home, and things might be looking up at last :) Even the teddy bears approve!! I'm so pleased that things are starting to come together for you now. Being able to make somewhere 'your own' is so important, and it's amazing the difference that it can make to how you feel. I know I experienced a similar thing when we moved from the South-East to Yorkshire (pathetic, given it's only 300 miles difference, not 12000 or so!) My sis-in-law emigrated to Sydney in '98 and she still maintains that it takes a good 18months before you really start to feel like you belong there. So let's hope that you have turned this particular corner for good now and things will continue to get better and better. Sending you some k! Nicky xx |
Re: 18 months in and settled!
We've been here 18 months too, now the builders sign is up on the block and contracts have been signed we'll feel just as settled in a few short months. Oh to be in our own place I know just what you mean. ;)
Good on ya Polly |
