I am so glad that things are taking a good turn for you both. You are not a quitter or whinger and that has shown in your persistence through hard times. That is why you have made it all work and got 5 jobs!!. :)

It is so easy for people to write c*** when they have not lived through things here for a long length of time. I know how things have been for you and I am so happy the good times are rollin' again. You both deserve it and the house looks fab.

All the best for continued success and happiness here in Qld. And I drink to your new pad :beer: If only I lived 80k's South I would join ya at your drinking club. :beer:

Like the majority on here I have never sent any "hate" karma and think that is just wormish. If you have a problem with someone tell them straight whether on the forum or in PM.

Now back to the point. Do you reckon a long term investment into Brisbane breweries could be worth it ? :D

Hi Polly,

Thanks for the photos - your new place looks fab - and I love the fact that its elevated! I can only imagine the comfort you must be feeling in your own place at last - I know that living in someone elses home (even if it is your hubby) can be a bit draining, cos you don't feel like you can change anything!

a no nonsense, warm post, just what the doctor ordered, so thanks polly... sitting here with a bundaberg dry and lime in the place i've wanted to be for so long, thinking there's got to be something wrong with me! but i do know your post made me feel better and more positive... and things do take time, you just need to hear it from others every so often, keeps you sane...

Hi Polly,

I'm so pleased that things are starting to come together for you now. Being able to make somewhere 'your own' is so important, and it's amazing the difference that it can make to how you feel. I know I experienced a similar thing when we moved from the South-East to Yorkshire (pathetic, given it's only 300 miles difference, not 12000 or so!)

My sis-in-law emigrated to Sydney in '98 and she still maintains that it takes a good 18months before you really start to feel like you belong there. So let's hope that you have turned this particular corner for good now and things will continue to get better and better. Sending you some k!

We've been here 18 months too, now the builders sign is up on the block and contracts have been signed we'll feel just as settled in a few short months. Oh to be in our own place I know just what you mean. ;)

I came out here to live a more relaxed life, but at the moment I am pretty much as busy as I was before!! Being the sole earner and working, renovating our house and being on the school commitee are taking its toll at the moment. I have no spare time at present. But I am still happy and also feel more settled now we have our own place.

One day I will join the drinkers club:)
