Afternoon Tea at the Goodwood Park Hotel is much nicer than Raffles, BTW.
I went in May. Think I'm going to the eye specialist this time.

I have also been reminded of the marvellous cactus garden.
Which is ideal if you are a fan of cacti and gardens.
I tried smoking them for a cheap high but it had no effect.

For those who don't know, the cactus garden is a bar and smoking area outside and on top of the airport terminal. As if the ever present humidity weren't enough, the cactus garden (surely cacti like it dry?) is sprayed constantly with jets of water. All this mixed with the fag smoke of frantic smokers with a 45 minute turn around makes it a delight to visit and not to be missed!

But such a lovely dry, sweet smelling atmosphere isn't it?

There is something about a 24 hour flight into the unknown having known the prospective wife for 2 weeks AND knowing you will be heading for a Brisbane hospital ward on touch-down that increases the desire for a ciggy.
And much free Jim Beam.
I find.
Took me a few days to recover from the lag/hangover ...

It's one of the memories from my initial flight over actually ... when that humidity hit after a UK January morning ...

So what's the visa situation for Singapore? Do you need one if you're on a UK passport, visiting for a day or so?

Most Westerners don't need them. ica.gov.sg should have a list of who does.

IMHO, a pretty good way to spend a few hours mid-flight is to go swimming/sunbathing at Tampines Swimming Centre and then have some fantastic Indian/Malay/Chinese food overlooking the beach at East Coast Seafood Centre: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Coast_Seafood_Centre
The answer is UK citizens don't need one for a visit, but always check any info anyone gives you on here!

Yes, East Coast Seafood Centre is good - esp Red House. Just north of it is a good hawker centre, too.
