15 Year Old in Joondalup (perth) - how to get involved
Would appreciate any thoughts please on what my 15 year old should do, to try and meet other people his agre in the Joondalup area. We only moved across 2 weeks ago, so he has missed the school term, and will not start the next year till 1st Feb. He could take the lazy route and just lie about the house the next 2 months playing with his x-box. However he had a great circle of friends back in England, and it would be good for him to get out and about.
Any ideas on activities he can get involved in. My thoughts are:-
1) Part time job (although he is not keen on that right now)
2) Tennis club ?
3) Soccer club ?
Any thoughts please and links are appreciated

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately my son is the height of nonsense so Basketball would be like asking Ronnie Corbett to tour with the Harlem Globe Trotters.
I like the idea of hip-hop, but it's not really my son. He does like his music but he wouldn't really take his interest that far. Thanks for the suggestion though.
He does like soccer and tennis so i think I need to try that route.

No very concrete ideas, I'm afraid, but have you tried calling the Arena at Joondalup?
Also, I've often seen posters looking for soccer players at the roundabout near Bunnings on Marmion Avenue, and there are tennis and soccer clubs in Quinns I think.
Good luck.

Soccer is a winter sport so you might not have any luck with that until after summer.

Don't worry about that. My boy plays in a basketball league where "being good at basketball" is second to enthusiasm and being a team player. He plays at Cragie leisure centre each Saturday morning.

If you go on the city of Joondalup website they are advertising various holiday activities for teenagers.
Joondalup Arena and Craigie Leisure Centre always have loads on.
I believe there is also a summer drama course on too if he is in to that. Realise at 15 he may be too cool for such things.
Have you tried the West Australia Academy for Performing Arts if he is into music?
Maybe gumtree if he plays an instrument and would like to join a band?
A part time job is a great way to meet mates if he does something like Maccas where they will all be his own age - only problem with that is that you might have to be his taxi.
Hope this helps

Do you have a Surf Life Saving Club anywhere close he can join? They have a great social life.
