Hi guys

We have sent our 139 visa application in which arrived with the authorities on 30th August. Anyone know what happens next? Do they contact us straight away or is there a delay, if so how long? Please let me know if anyone out there is in the same process. When do they ask for the medicals; security checks etc., has anyone any advice on what we should be doing in the meantime?

Really early days for you, but if you are on the MODL then you could think of booking Meds and sending off for the police checks in the near future.Good luck.They won't actually request them for them for a long time yet, but you can front load them.

We got asked to do our meds 5 weeks after we got our acknowledgement that out application had been received by DIMIA

We are also going for the 139 as well and are hopefully should get our visa in the next 6 weeks or so.

For timescales have a look at http://www.austimeline.com if you haven't already. We had our medicals and police checks done early as we didn't want a delay when the request finally came (14 weeks after application) which is fine if you want to go as soon as you get your visa but there is always a risk you will have to have them re-done if things drag out or you don't want to go straight away as they only last for a year.

Things to do before you get your requests (if you are anything like us) is get excited, try to forget about it, get excited, get fed up, and check your e-mail 100 times a day.

We applied for our 139 visa in April 2005, was recieved in Australia on 2nd May 2005, Agent got the request for medicals on 8th September 2005 we were informed on 10th September so medicals will be booked Monday morning and hopefully done within the next month.

It is really hard to sit back and wait, but I am sure it will be worth it!.

We sent our 139 application onthe 30th May. Our agent has advised us it takes 4 months fora case officer to be allocated (this came from the regional manager at DIMIA). This take us to end of the month before a case officer even looks at our case, we have front loaded police checks and medicals as my hubby was 45 in July. We are heading to Melbourne.
