Hi all - as everyone has been so helpful before just wondering if you can give me an idea of time scales - the woman who did our visa application is away till mid sept.

We applied for a 138 skilled visa (with an assurer?)

originally we were doing a 139 regional skilled sponsored but had to change at the last minute when that became a temporary visa.

Our skills assessment all came back in July and the main application went in August 06 - anybody have any idea on how long itll take - about a year???

Hoping to get to Cairns....keep just thinking hopefully only one more winter to go - at present in Yorkshire it is sheet lightning, thunder and rain!! Although I realise Cairns does get its Cyclones!

Hi,

Have a look at www.austimeline.com - you can get an idea how the timescales are going. We're also 138ers submitted in August and as yet to get acknowledgement. I'm thinking it may be anything between April and June/July next year before visa grant. Anything earlier would be a bonus.

Hi I got a 139 Visa which states it is a permanent residency visa. Took us around 11 months in total.

Deadline is Feb 07, planning on heading out Oct time, just deciding on Perth or Melbourne, both very different, been to both, both have pluses, will be deiciding this week then its get skates on time........ I take this is what you meant by deadline or do you mean there was a deadline to this type of visa? has it been phased out?

deadline???? the 1st July deadline??? Sorry was there a deadline for the 138?

yep, 1st July the 139 became a temp visa. best of luck on your decision this week.

no, it was just for the 139

nope was too late for the 139 unfortunately - had a time delay getting the skills assessment back ......which meant we missed it by 2 weeks therefore had to change to the LONGER WAITING for the 138! Would rather have PR than just Temporary!

Ahh ok, I must have just made it in on this one as recieved confirmation in May. What is the difference with the 138, do you have to go to the same state as the assurer?

we are as we want to be near our family........but pretty sure as 138 we don't need to

the 138 takes a lot longer to come - even longer post july 1st I think! 138 you can live anywhere you dont have to live in the same place as your sponsor - 139 would have been just as good for us - as we want to live in queensland anyway - but now the 139 is only a temporary 2 year visa!!! lucky you!! Keep me a sunbed when you get there ....Ill be a few more months!

ha ha as long as you keep us company on here!! maybe the cold dark months will fly by!!!!! Only one more hopefully ...before selling the house etc etc - hopefully shouldnt take long to do that .....as im the estate agent!!
