1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!
#1203

It's not just the pound that is suffering though. Just over the past few days I've seen the US dollar go from 0.89 to 0.91. Parity between the two is getting closer and closer. So we shouldn't think that it's just the £ that is getting a battering against the AU dollar.

1 AUD = 0.5839 GBP
Is this the lowest the GBP has been for 20+ years against the AUD?
Great for UK manufacturing and exporters, apparently the UK is the 6th biggest exporter in the world.
Not so good for new migrants, less cash for house deposits

Looks like Mr's Brown and King are more concerned with making exports more attractive, and imports less attractive, than looking after those of us leaving the country.

House and rent offers are going to be well under "peak 2007" levels aren't they. This isn't 2007 anymore.

To add to that....I've been to a large number of Open for Inspection viewings on properties in Sydney since Christmas......and they are all swamped with potential buyers.....I also have an interest in a residential letting business in Sydney.....and rents here are going up as fast,if not faster than the interest rates are being increased by the RBA.

hi all
with regards to it being so bleak over here and no houses selling
we told the people who we rent our house off of in the new year that we were off to Australia in april we have been in it for 3 years and they decided to sell up
they put it up for £320000 and accepted an offer within 2 weeks for £315000now i wouldnt have given £250000 for it personally but houses are selling around here at the moment as there just isnt enough for sale .
last january when it was really bad a house around the corner from here sold for £250000 (just about). as confidence was at an all time low
i would imagine you would get £320000 for it now as thats the market at the moment .
also doom and gloom everywhere i do not know 1 single person out of work ( and most of my mates are in the building game ) its not as brilliant as it was before but they are still earning money
everyone is still going to the pubs and go to bluewater , lakeside or bromley and it is still busy
people just cant stop taliking about the doom and gloom
but is it really that bad.
