I think you are right and I do think we'll probably see some more of the recession emerging - I don't think we are out of the woods yet. Looking back recessions took years to get over and yet it's only a year since the big crisis and already people are jumping up and down about being out of recession!
The Aussie dollar can't remain too strong for too long as at some point other countries will stop buying exports. Already tourism is down and film makers and bands aren't coming to Oz because it's too expensive.
As for house prices - I guess they will continue to rise all the while people will stretch themselves to afford it. The problem with Oz now is not our British money coming in but Chinese. Reports in The Age recently have the cashed up Chinese buying up property but not even to live in but just as investments! Although I thought if you didn't have a visa you could only buy new off plan - or have they changed it? There are still 700 people a week arriving in Melbourne who all need somewhere to live and if they are bringing in something other than British pounds then us Brits will find it harder and harder with our worthless currency!
Don't forget even though we are overseas you can still vote in the general election: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governme...ions/DG_073241 if you've been away under 15 years.
We are just mere pawns in the whole scenario!

Pressure grows as Melbourne rockets to 4 million
The bureau estimates that Melbourne's population grew by 74,713 in the year to last June and, on revised figures, by 74,791 the year before that.
This means the population is growing by more than 200 people a day, or almost 1500 a week

The Japanese did this up and down the Qld coast before their economy collapsed, so it's nothing new. Indeed half the London property market is currently being held up by Russian investors. Over-valued land is the single biggest determinant in the West's downfall, but it was ever thus. Greed brought down many an empire before this one.
For now, FWIW, I'm going to be brave and part company with the Rogers/Faber SE Asia love-in and say I think we're looking at serious deflation. We will see, I guess, but one thing I am 100% certain of is that this "recession" is in fact a major depression and not even half way through.

The changes which seem to have affected most people are the priority processing arrangements, tinkering around with the MODL and the introduction of a critical skilled list (CSL).

my armchair predictions:-

Mar 10 - £1 = 1 quick smell of an aussies ketchup sachet just before he puts it on his pie crust
Jun 10 - £1 = 1 quick watch of the aussie eating and enjoying his pie that would have cost you £8.50 thanks to Mervyn Moaning King and Gordon Moron Brown!!!

As for Gordon Brown, well the party conference is being held in my UK home town so I've asked my Mum and Dad to go and throw a few eggs at him although I'd like it to be more I might get done for something! As for Merv the Muppet's comments this week grrrr - thanks mate!
I was appalled to see that the auditorium where the conference is being held was only about half full. If they've given up, how the hell do they expect us to have confidence. I only caught the tail end of if on the news, but I think the labour party is rushing through a new law which commits them to cutting GDP by X% by 2014? Sorry to be vague, but what a completely futile gesture/gimmick and what an abuse of power to try to implement something legally so quickly. They are behaving more and more deperately. I really worry for the future. I was with someone recently who when Brown appeared on screen shouted "die" to him! The person is normally really mild mannered, but just shows the strength of feeling.
