Any predictions on where it will go to? At the moment I don't believe that there is a floor to the pound. Everyone seems to be selling it short, and the present government, such as it is. Can't bring in the austerity measures needed to rectify their past errors, without guaranteeing that they will lose the next election. What are Brown's choices ??? Devaluation and a great photo opportunity at his "The Pound in your pocket speech" ? Wait until the Pound sinks to parity with the Euro, and then seek the 'security' of the Euro zone ? Increase interest rates to 5% + to reflect the risk that the world money markets already see in holding GBP and therefore ensure the collapse of the housing market ? Pour himself a large scotch, and pick up the revolver with one round that was left on his desk after the last cabinet meeting ? :) |

He could sell it as “EuroBonding in times of turmoilâ€, and make it sound half reasonable. The Frogs and Krauts would accept it as the UK would then have to help bail out the PIGS . The public will be grasping at straws and would accept merging with the Mumbuto Peaso if it meant they could afford to buy dinner that night. |
