Hi
Just wanted to add that we had a quote from White and co as well...not only was it the most expensive but they also thought we would have more than a twenty foot container and suggest that we should throw some things away!!!!! All the other companies said we would nicely fill a twenty footer with about 50 - 100 cubic feet to spare - hope they are right and White is wrong (having said that we have thrown a lot away too and advertised a lot of stuff in the local paper too)

Hi Sandra

Did you get a price on that? We have just had them to requote us as we are only taking dining table and 6 chairs, the rest is boxes (approx 25 of the)
they have not offered any cubic feet just a price of £1300. Initially they quoted 453 cubic foot £1750.

If unhappy, the next best for us was Britannia.

Try Anglo Pacific, we have had several quotes and they are by far the best.
We have been quoted around £3500 for twenty foot container 1300 cu ft ,I think

We used Whites to New Zealand and found their quote the cheapest. The service was excellent. Took two months less to arrive than friends who 'shared' and didn't have to pay massive port costs. There stuff broke too.

Hi

we've had a load of quotes!

The best one was from PSS and they've been recommended a number of times on here too.

A 20' container holds a volume of 1050 cubic feet ( about 150 tea chest size boxes).

To work out the volume of an item:
Length x Bredth x Width (in inches) divided by 1728 = cubic feet.

Hi Jacko1

So a search for "***** ********" on the forum....Quite a few people have recommended you steer well clear of using them....I think its Pollyana that had, or is having a particularly bad time with them....

We had White & Co around. The guy who turned up was not particularly professional and didn't seem that interested in whether he got our business or not.
They took three weeks to get a quote to us, it came badly prepared with scribbled notes and post its stuck on it.
That was about a month ago, they haven't bothered to contact us since, which is just as well because if they can't be bothered with us at the quote stage they probably couldn't be bothered looking after our belongings.

On the other hand I've been very impressed with both Crown and John Mason.

We have had quotes from:

Pickfords (most expensive, by far)
Abels (expensive)
Anglo Pacific (average price)
Britannia (lowest)

Friends of ours are still waiting for Britannia to perform (delivery to Canada, complete sideshow so far.

We liked Anglo but have subsequently heard some bad feed back. However, having read some of the threads, seems to be down to removal firms subcontracting to Anglo.

PS; Most of the smaller firms subcontract the move to one of the above
