** Just north of Sydney - INTERESTING... **
Hello fellow peeps
Just after some advice on where to relocate to. We've set our heart on being just north of Sydney, near Manly.
However, we're not sure about living in Manly as apparantly it's changed a lot since we were last there (5 years ago). Therefore, we'd like to live near to Manly and still in the same area (ish).
We've heard good reports about Fairlight, Seaforth, Harbord and Balgowlah/Balgowlah Heights.......
Can anyone shed some light about pros/cons of these places as we've not been there. We'll obviously be checking out the places before we decide on exactly where, but any info on these places in particular would be MUCHO appreciated.
Cheers all - be in Oz in a couple of months time

Bump!
To my mind Manly has cleaned up a bit since we last came 8 years ago, but I still wouldn't want to live right in the middle of it. It's too mcuh of a tourists spot for that.
We are in Queenscliff, though we can look all the way down the beach in to Manly. It's a great spot and you can take advantage of whats available in Manly, without the downsides. It takes 30 mins to walk to the ferry wharf.
Harbord is another favourite, but seems to lack decent restaurants (except Pilu of course). Slightly more difficult to commute to CBD, if you're on public transport - probably means an extra change somewhere.
I don't know too much about the other places but my first thoughts are:
Fairlight - good option again close to Manly to be able to make use.
Seaforth - Big bucks around here!
Balgowlah - Nothing going for it, but someone might prove me wrong.
And they are all further from the beach which was a big decider for us when we moved from the city centre.
Good luck with your plans.
