The major extras are:

Stamp Duty (Qld Rates):

2 per cent for hybrid cars
3 per cent for four-cylinder vehicles
3.5 per cent for six-cylinder vehicles
4 per-cent for V8s and above

and Dealer Delivery...which strangely isn't included in the cost of the car, even though I don't think there is anyway of avoiding it. This is often around $2k.

However.

There is a trick some dealers implement.

If you have a trade in, they can offset some of the luxury car tax, by selling for less, and paying less for trade in, but showing as more.

Its one of those, tax avoidance, not evasion equations.

We are also looking at the car side of things, what is the deal with car tax (road fund licence) in WA? I.E how much?
