Did you insist on 24 ct gold?

Never mind flying to Singapore, you could save money by visiting the Gold Coast hinterland.

I can't remember her name but it's this place http://www.7daysdental.com.au/

The Geek goes somewhere in the Macquarie Centre and I think pays about $180 for a check-up.

My dentist is excellent - he teaches at Sydney University, has all the most modern equipment including German crown milling CAD machines. I wouldn't expect to pay peanuts for the training and experience: it's a lot of money but not excessively more than you might pay for a lesser job.

I'm a member of Noble Dentist. That combined with the extras cover on my private insurance saves me loads and I've had loads done in the last year. Even without private cover, Noble Dentist would save quite a bit on fees. Just have to find a dentist who is participating in the scheme.

Matt whinged when he paid the bill for our daughters filling yesterday $155! Our dentist won the best female dentist of VIC award by the dental association bods last year. Her surgery is state of the art, you can see your teeth on screen above your head (which I might add, is gross!)

At the end of the day $150 for 15 mins work isnt too bad really is it?

I'm always in pain when I leave my periodontist's surgery - $275 for 10-15 minutes' work. My dentist in Singapore says a it's nothing a hygeinist couldn't do so I'm going to be investigating that one if I don't get my usual stopover next year.

No wonder there are so many Ozzies with front teeth missing, all makes sense to me now.
Well said - I don't think we appreciate how good the NHS was until we actually moved!

I paid $250 but that included 3 xrays...go to a Insurance prefereed dentist and it will be cheaper. in perth check and clean should be $120.

regards, Steve

I just registered with a new dentist the other day and he comes highly recommended - I was told that the first appointment with assessment, dental hygienist, x rays, clean etc will cost me $460. Yes, I will go to him because I can see what a fabulous job he has done with my friend's mouth and I have been a bit underwhelmed by the chap who has been doing the job (very cheaply) for a long time.

NHS dentistry may be cheap, but it's cheap for a reason.

I have switched to a private dentist here in the UK and it has been a great move. It's been a shocker getting used to paying three times the amount but it's worth every penny. Some of the NHS work I had done was shocking

Having said that, my private dentist treats my children on the NHS so I don't have to pay for them, which is brilliant

In the last 6 months I've had a tooth pulled, a check up, a couple of x-rays and a handful of fillings for the best part of $2000.
The dentist is also "concerned" about one of my teeth that may need root canal work for about $1800. Or I could just get it pulled for a mere $400.
My daughter is doing very well at school at the moment and wants to be a Vet (another pricey story there) but I am screaming "DENTIST" at her.
