Can sympathise with most comments, but take issue on the food. Nearly all Italian restaurants are run by Italians, and the chefs are Italian. They just have to cook according to local tastes. An interesting website. Hadn't come across it before.

I agree with all points except the orange cheese-what is wrong with some good Double Leicester cheese?
Even better, some orange Mexican cheese? Million times better than mutton-stinky pecorino.

Crisps with a meal?
I have never been served crisps on a main meal plate in any pub or restaurant.
Rather suprised that nobody mentioned the lack of shutters or 'tapparelle' and the sun shining in the windows at 6am. I know lots of Italians who can only sleep if it's pitch black. Personally I can't stand waking up in a black dark room and even if I do pull the blinds down, I always leave a bit for the light to come in in the morning.

Yep, if the Brits don't get their pasta drowning in sauce they think they've been cheated. I'll never order a creamy pasta dish in the UK ever again - so much cream it made my stomach curdle. Mind you, if it hadn't been for my mates booking an Italian restaurant, I'd never have gone there in the first place.

I read this and went off to eat some orange cheese (red Leicester).
For my OH it's the bread that he doesn't like here. He spends a fortune on baguettes.
Oh and he was horrified by spaghetti hoops, I'm surprised they didn't make the list!

Also Selfridges restaurant do that. I think it's an American thing because over there it was quite common, even if ordering a sandwich.

Ha, good link. And I have to say I'm totally with the Italians on most of those things. Flip flops without a beach in sight in summer is bad enough but from September to May they should be firmly discarded in the back of a wardrobe.
I add one more thing to that list:
11) Appropriate clothing full stop. Why some guys think it's fine to wander about in public places with their shirts off as soon as it gets a bit warm -urgh. And larger girls who don skimpy black leggings with short tops/jackets without the notion that once on, the laws of universe will turn those leggings into nothing more than a pair of very thin tights... leaving underwear (or not!) visible to all and sundry
Nothing wrong with Red Leicester and by heck, the Italians would faint over over my occasional penchant for a salt&vinegar Chip Stick sarnie!

Absolutely spot on. It is pretty awful to see them sometimes with all their flabs hanging, no style whatsoever. And with cocktail dresses and sandals and no jackets in winter. brrrrrrrr
