We need Ian Smith back to run Zimbabwe and set it back to being the paradise it once was. I bet you most of the good folk of Zimbabwe, black, Indian, whatever, would agree with me.

Voodoo economics. Does anyone else remember how, in 1980, when Mugabe came to power, it was all going to be different this time, that the lessons of past African screw-ups had been learnt, that Zim was such a successful economy that this time it just couldn't fail? Now this, from the Mail & Guardian....

And this is the man who receives standing ovations when he comes to South Africa.

That's why I have said it to S.Africans for years Pablo. Heard it all before. In fact, Zim folk were much more positive and had much more to be positive about than those in S.A. No crime problem, racial integration and tolerance was much more common, etc.

Speaking of Zims. This was the front page of the Sunday Crimes today :

http://sundaytimes.co.za/PrintEditio...aspx?id=511096

Watch a nation that 20 odd years ago was called the 'Breadbasket of Africa', major exporter of foodstuffs, collapse.

This would never happen in Zimbabwe. Not in a thousand years. Sad that I once thought so too. :(

There's something of the Heart of Darkness going on in Zim. I attach this link, in case you don't get this where you are.

Positively evil.:curse: Now look what this excuse of a human being is doing to businesses. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6283990.stm Mugabe is one sick savage and I wish him a slow torturous death for what he has done and is doing to people.

Yes indeed, Tegwyn. I fear that Zim will never recover, and if SA ends up going the same way, then in a generation or two it will have been forgotten that a successful state is possible on the African continent. Even now I have heard Africa's failure blamed on such things as a lack of horses or an absence of navigable rivers. It is all too easy to blame topography or climate or some act of God for the failings of men.

I really believed that Zim was going to be different, naive fool that I was.
