Question How do i get my spousal VISA whilst in SA??

Hello all,

I am British and my Husband South African,

We are currently in the UK as we just married here and we wish to return to SA soon. I was on a Volunteer Visa before we left SA and that has just expired but as we are married now i need to get a spousal VISA.

I have apllied for my Police clearence as i know they take a age to arrive. We fly back to SA at the end of Jan and im thinking of changing my Visa there as it is cheaper.

How much does a Spousal VISA cost? My Volunteer VISA cost a £600 deposit, is it the same for a Spousal Visa? Problem is we dont have much money and it so the finance part of it is worrying me.

Kind Regards

Jojo

Any guidence is appricated,

The spousal visas are free of charge. However to change visa type you may need to pay a charge (can't remember if that is the case for spousal).
However if you come in on a tourist visa you will need a return ticket dated within the 3 months - or to deposit cash like your 600 pounds (maybe that was what your deposit was previously?).
I think you also need (may depend on home affairs branch you go to) UK and RSA PCCs. Plus a Medical including Xray. Usual supporting docs - I think but can't remember if Med Insurance was one.

If you are wanting to work or study you need supporting letter for that as well for it to be included on what you are permitted to do on your spousal visa.
Friend of mine recently waiting for ages as at his home affairs they now have to send to Pretoria for the Visa (he was told it was re corrupution and not allowed to do at the local office anymore).

You may well apply for Permanant residency (PR) as this is free. I am assuming you intend to live in SA? If that is the case then you are only allowed a leave of abscence from SA for, I think, something like 90 days over 2 years. Otherwise ust come in on a tourist Visa.
