Default Any thoughts on living with Abuja with kids?

I've been shortlisted for a job in Abuja. I applied without really thinking about it but now I've been shortlisted I'm wondering if it's do-able.

The job would be for a year or two.

Kids are 1, 9, 12.

Thanks

Abuja is pretty safe and quiet by Nigerian standards. I've no direct experience (lived in Lagos 2004-2010) but schooling should be acceptable as long as your company picks up the tab- it will be heinously expensive. For a year or two they shouldn't pick up too many bad habits (entitlement from hanging out with children of the rich and diplomats). Will you have a spare car and driver to do the school run while you're being driven to work? It's possible to drive yourself in Abuja but I'm not sure if it's recommended.

You'll have staff too who can help with the baby but I doubt you'd want to leave a one-year old with a new nanny. Will your partner be staying at home?

Boredom and lack of activities are the major problems with raising families in Nigeria.

For me, Nigeria was the most unspeakable experience in a long life of working in fairly wild places.

Comments like Scot's are the most common feedback.

As an aside/ out of curiosity, what is the financial uplift like? It needs to be significant.

Sp you are looking at The International School in Abuja ? I hesitate to even think about what the fees are.
