Any condemnation yet of Gaddafi from the ANC? Or are they still sticking up for their comrade?

More news from the land where anything goes.
Beki Cele (the head of police who called Shrien Dewani a monkey and said he was definitely guilty) was found guilty of "improper conduct" yesterday over a deal to move the SAPS headquarters. Seems he almost certainly lined his own pockets, and didn't bother with such complications as tenders or due process. Still, no chance he'll resign or be fired. The fish is rotten at the head - nothing learned from the Selebi situation - having doubts over your honesty / integrity is acceptable in today's South African Police Service.
The toll road scheme in Joburg has been stopepd because Cosatu threatened to bring the country to its knees - although it would have added R1000 to the average motorists' bill every month, so maybe for once they have achieved something useful (although who will pay for the road upgrades remains to be seen - I have a bad feeling about this).
The budget yesterday - about a gazillion rand for health, jobs, education, police and defence. See the last sentence of the paragraph above.
The only good news is that Malema seems to have gone quiet. Although I am sure that's just a matter of time.

Looks like bombing your own citizens is nothing between comrades.
When you have a corrupt rapist president to look up to, then I suppose anything goes.
Yep, you guessed it. Hope you have deep pockets.
Ditto.

small bet Gaddafi lives out his life in exile in the Cape?

You have to assume that the Zimbabweans are watching all this with interest. Once they get mobilised they will have a crack at overthrowing mad Bob. The consequences of that could be either great (all the refugees down here heading home in scenes of joy and excitement to forge a new beginning) or, considerably more likely, civil war, brutal crackdowns and even bigger swathes of displaced heading south looking for handouts....place your bets.
Fuel will hit R10/l this week. At least the rand has stopped it's free fall. My ex-wife will be pleased.

It was R7 about 6 months ago.....we had a debate a while back on here about the cost of living...I'd like to retract much of what I said. Its getting expensive. We are lucky enough to be able to absorb a lot of the increases, but prices do seem to be being hiked all over the place now.
NHI really worries me....50% tax rate has got to be on the agenda.

I didn't know about the NHI. Had a quick read though and it will require huge funding.

If only the crime rate would go up, we'd be able to scare off some of these foreigners and...oh, hang on.....

No,No, Ed, we need the foreigners to come in, they cant vote, they transfer skills, spend money, employ servants and eventually p!ss off back where they come from without increasing the population.

SKY News report today about Gadaffis place at Benghazi. It seems in the courtyard they found 7 people in cells undergound. The cells had been concreted in with just one small air hole, and they had basically been left to die. Nearby was the Gadaffi villa which used to look like a palace

And where is Africa now over this, or over Ivory Coast? Nowhere as usual. They bleat on about African solutions to African problems until yet another African problem pops up. And then nada. A big resounding silence while they wait for the hated neo-colonialists to do something.
(I understand the UN is trying to decide whether they can keep Libya on the UN Human Rights Commission. Hard one that. Last I looked, they couldn't quite decide.)

Finally....it took long enough, and is hardly blistering condemnation. Still nothing from the glorious leader...
