Going to the Final, Semi Final in CapeTown 2 QFs and all Australian Matches. Getting tickets was a piece of piss for his world cup.

Not surprised Mitzy. Accommodation prices have skyrocketed and travel to South Africa is never cheap. There are enough media warnings out there that will make one pause for concern.

Re: 600,000 tickets
The last of the tickets will be given out for free a few days before the games to locals who cannot afford to go. There is no ways FIFA will allow any of the stadiums to have empty seats. Stadiums will be fulled to capacity regardless.

Re: 600,000 tickets
Many applications for tickets were turned down by FIFA during the initial phases. Listening to friends, talk shows on the topic and personal experience indicate that many people that have applied for tickets was either unsuccessful or only had a small portion of the tickets they applied for granted.
Tickets seem to have been held back for FIFA's other customer groups but during the current phase the returned tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Then there will still be a final phase of sales kicked of in April.
One thing I'm sure wont happen is that any tickets will be given away just to "fill empty stadiums". As in previous years demand will outstrip supply.

And which are the games that are not sold out?
All the big games have gone - the ones that didn't sell out were ones no-one wants to go to... NZ, Slovenia, Paraguay etc. They can't even fill stadiums in their own countries. If these tickets were R50 (instead of R500) - then I might go, but as Shankly said - If they were playing in my garden, I'd close the curtains.
I applied for 48 sets of tickets - and got 2. Hardly suggest a world cup which no-one wants to go to, does it?
I bought my tickets for the German world cup a week before the matches, so sorry - not sure this is a stick to beat the 2010 world cup with.
