Experience in Accounting jobs in Dubai/AD
 

Hi,

I am currently working for a Big4 firm in the UK, I have been with them for 5 years now working in audit and tax.

I am looking to move into an industry based role and get away from auditing, I am ACCA qualified (2009).

Does anyone have any experience working in an accounting role in Dubai/AD? Is the cost of living really as high as people say? Would it be easier to find a job whilst out there or should I secure one before leaving the UK?

Also, if anyone knows of some good agencies or companies they could recommend that would be a great help.

I really want to move abroad but I am not sure whether I should look for accounting jobs or re-train as a TEFL teacher.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

The easiest way to get a position overseas might be to ask your current Big $ firm about a transfer?

Hi Bermudashorts,

I have already tried this but my employer have put a stop on all transfers (within UK and abroad) for the time being as they had quite a few redundancies last year so there really is no chance, hence why i'm searching elsewhere.

My husband is a Chartered Accountant and CPA and he is in UAE for the last 5 years.Regarding your question on the cost of living Dubai is very much affordable now as far as the rentals are concerned .(Almost 50% down compared to last year) and a lot of new units available including the world's tallest structure!!To begin with you can have a wonderful 2 BR unit for AEE 80K pa(approx U$ 22K).

Regarding the job openings,according to my OH,the markets for finance guys in Dubai at the moment is not so good.But AD is doing very well but the cost of living there will be double.roberthalf.ae,charterhouseme.ae etc ,manpower Inc,nadia-me.ae are some of the good job sites.
