Husband now has icaa skills assessment back ( degree qualified ,C.A. and member of ICAS here) posted 16 - 08 -05 ( royal mail international signed for). Received by icaa 22 - 08. Completed 29 -09 and received by us here in Scotland 4-10. So took 5 and a bit weeks to do . Not bad as I gather they have a lot of PASA's just now. Oh and he passed. So now we need to make up our minds whether to apply for visa.

well the 1st set of migration agents I spoke to said 3 months. Don't believe that for a second. Next one said should be 6 months, if you front load medicals and CRO checks, as accountant is on the modl.Check sonictigger's timeline and also Ginauk as I'm sure they are both accountants with visa - check Worzel's as well.

Times do seem to swing one way then the other. My skills assessment (last Xmas) took 11 weeks whereas others got it in a week or two. But our visa application (including front-loaded PCC's and unrequested meds) came back as a "yes" in only just over 11 weeks. They seem to be taking 4-5 months at the moment but 18 months ago took a whole year.

But all of that is easy and reasonably predictable compared to selling the house. It took 3 months to sell (at £20K below asking) then 14 weeks to exchange because of all sorts of wrangles.

Hi guys,

ICAA received my skills assessment application mid September and I am still waiting for a reply. I am CIPFA qualified which is only partially recognised but I sent all the info that they requested so it should be ok.

I guess this waiting game is a sign of things to come so I suppose I should get used to it!!!!!

I went to the London expo the other day and the Western Austrailian lady seemed particularly keen on sponsoring Accountants. Tasmania, South Austrailia less so....

Excellent news - well done.

We got our visa last month and applied in March - so just 6 months, which seemed like a lifetime, but actually wizzed by. Now selling the house.....that's dragging....

Good luck with everything.

saw that you had your visa which is great news. Hope the house sells - I'm sure it will. Are you applying for jobs from here or waiting until you get there?

Our visa took nearly six months as well. We'll be applying for jobs when we get there.

Hi all

Once my qualifications were assessed (ACCA) we got sponsored by the Victorian State Govt as accountants were on the MODL list. From then it took approx 3 months to get the visa confirmed. However, as others above mentioned, selling the house, sorting out accomm on arrival and jobs etc takes time - from getting our visa approved to arriving in oz took 7 months....
