  • Dhow for Dinner or Drinks.
Traffic to get to the pier in Bur Dubai is absolutely a killer</b>
  • Going to Shindaga Heritage Village and sit near the Creek for tea/shisha/Dinner.
negative, every real inhabitant of Dubai knows that the only *decent* place for it is fat-a-feet a few hundred meters down the same shore. Mind you, the shishas'smoke is everywhere
  • Desert Safari and Dinner Cruise on a dhow is also a must
  • Best place to have coffee:The Lime Tree Cafe in Jumeirah 1. Their snacks are brilliant!!!!

and the decor is sutble and sober, like the people who love to sit there for coffee

  • Thread on places to drink
  • Noshi Noshi at La Plage (Thai) - Complex that looks like Melrose Place, on the corner of the beach road and al athar street (the street that leads upto Lloyds TSB). Have been there and the food, the ambiance and the service is top notch. Highly recommended as a quiet Jumeirah nook.
  • Blue Elephant -Thai Food Tel: +971 4 282 0000
  • Verre (Gordon Ramsey's) is defo the best restaurant - not the setting, which is a bit average, but the food and service is amazing. I (Madam Medusa) think it's better than his restaurants in London... and worth the long hike for sure. It is excellent but it is also very expensive. Go for the menu degustation (something like that) then you'll have all sorts. It's really good, but, bear in mind if there are 2 of you at the table you both have to opt for it, they won't do it for just one. Or try the raviloi starter and pork belly. The crab and avocado tianne (sp?) to start.
  • Rib Room in Emirates Towers is fab too. Tel: +971 4 3198088
  • Napa in Al Qasr now it's been changed to MJ's and is the best steak i have had in this town, very similar to the Rib Room, in my opinion better food and better service.
  • Vu at the Emirates Towers, great view of the city and found it had more atmosphere than Verre, however the food at Verre is fantastic.
  • Pier Chic is also really good and has a very romantic setting, especially if you have a table on the deck..
(Totally over-rated & looks like a prison on stilts - Meow)
  • Pisces in The Madinat has been amazing since the relaunch in 2009 but the chef has recently left</b>
  • Indian- Ashiana (Sheraton)
  • KHANA KHAZANA, the BEST food in town, LICENSED and ample parking. STAY AWAY from the all-you-can-eat Chinese next door, or just go directly go to the American Hospital, right in front of it. The all-you-can-eat is BAD, don't take my word, just ask your own GP</b>
  • Pure Veg - Govindas (try the lunch/thali on Friday) - excellent value for money.
  • Billy Blues - The specials on Sunday night, buy one steak get one free, Monday Night - Ribs - buy one get one free (they are fab). - Rydges Plaza Hotel, Satwa
  • Chinese Treasure - Behind the American Hospital - They do a fab all inclusive for about 129 or less !!! strongly recommend it
  • The Madinat - Is a must see a purpose built indoor souk lots of shops and cafe's bar's etc, ideal for the tourist or just a stroll around this lovely setting, also fab photo opportunity for the Burj al Arab
  • Noodle House -
  • Ritz Carlton - In terms of tasteful elegance and a sense of privacy
I absolutely agree, the best to impress, if you don't want to give money to Ramsey Superb afternoon teas!
  • Finz - It's good for the price.
  • Spectrum On One - Fairmont
And tell your friends to stay home too!
  • Coconut Grove in Rydges Plaza - The food is yummy
  • Ushna - In Madinat does decent Indian (although don't be expecting it to be like Curry Capital in Bigg Market)
  • Khana Khazania - The food is amazing (HINT: Dhal Makhani, Jawa Jeenga, Jalali Jeenga, but you just can't go wrong!) AND the BEST margaritas in town!!
  • Mir Amin - Lebanese - On the beach road, in front of Jum Beach Park. Or go to Umm Al Quwein on Friday, all your Lebanese friends know about it.
  • Noodle Bowl - Diyahfa Street (Chinese)
overpriced Chinese street food, crappily prepared, served worse
  • Lang Kwai Fong near Lamcy Plaza. (Chinese)
that's an interesting joint I"d like to visit soon
  • Stefanos in Barsha - Italian, run by a lovely Milanese couple.
  • Pisces at madinat - Good fish dishes
  • Tang - at Mina Seyahi - because it has genuinely innovative food
  • Medzo - Wafi City. Modern Italian, classy. (Has outdoor seating)
  • Shang Palace at the Shangri-la does a passable dim sum too.
  • Zheng He's - Mina a Salam - Chinese, but very elegant. (Has outdoor seating)
  • Summer Place Chinese restaurant at the Metropolitan on Sheikh Zayed Road. - It's much older than most other restaurants, and has a slight air of "shabby gentility". Plus the food is great.
  • Bella Pasta? - Ibis Hotel - Fantastic all you can eat and drink specials on a couple of days a week, great help yourself starters, followed by a pasta based main course, and as much vino etc. as you can manage.
  • Japanese-American Teppanyaki - Benihana, Al Bustan Rotana Hotel. Enjoy Japanese-American steak, seafood and sushi. Fantastic deal on a Sunday all inc price (wine & beer), great enetertainment value for your guests to experience something new. Tel: +971 4 2820000
  • La bussola - Mina Seyahi for a good pizza
  • Italian - BiCE at the Hilton Jumeirah. In a word - SUPERB. Shame it's such a bugger to get to amongst all the construction going on around the JBR.
