Occupations under Pressure-Canada

In some regions, the demand for workers in specific occupations is far outstripping the available supply. In response to employers' pressing needs for suitable workers, Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) and Service Canada (SC) have developed Regional Lists of Occupations under Pressure. For occupations noted on these lists, employers are required to advertise across the country for only 7 days before applying for a Labour Market Opinion (LMO). (This is in contrast with the 3-month advertising campaign than normally is required for an LMO.) With an LMO in hand, the employer can offer the job to a foreign worker who, in turn, can apply to enter Canada on a [Temporary Work Permit].

Please note that there is no set schedule for the updating of these lists. Updating of the lists is performed on an "as and when" basis.
