ViewsNashville-Davidson, TNFrom WikiNashville (in Davidson County) is the home of Country Music and the Grand Ole Opry. But it is much more than that! Located centrally in TN, approximately 3 hours from Memphis, and 3 .5 hours from Bristol (remember I did say 'approx').... it is the capital of Tennessee and home of the state's government. The town itself is not huge by many standards and most of the tourist attractions / bars are located downtown along 'Broadway', and it's side streets. The world famous Tootsie's is located just down the hill from the historic Ryman Auditorium (where the Grand Ole Opry originated for many years - namely back in it's heyday). There is a daily commuter train to downtown - the Nashville Star. Morning/afternoon commute traffic can get heavy, but is by no means as bad as cities like Atlanta. The city has a professional (American) football team - Tennessee Titans, a professional hockey team - Nashville Predators, and a AAA major league baseball team - Nashville Sounds. The Titans play at LP Field, right on the Cumberland River, and the Predators play at the Sommet Center (capacity ia 17, 111). The airport (BNA airport code) recently underwent a construction project, meaning it now offers more streamlined security checkpoints, as well as new restaurants and shops. A new convention center complex should begin construction in 2010/2011. The best way to get to find out about it is to come and visit ! |
